Wordless Wednesday... NOT!

I am pretty angry right now. Ellie just showed me a link to a game for android phones about dog fighting. We both think this is disgusting! Dog should not be forced to fight dog, virtual or no! Things like this are what ruin the reputations of my very sweet pit bull friends! If you love dogs, please help out by signing this petition to block a game about dog fighting! Dog fighting is very cruel animal abuse, and is a felony in all 50 states! This game should be stopped! Please tell all of your friends about this, and help save the reputations of innocent dogs!

I have heard that it has disappeared off the market, but the creators of the game are fighting to get it back up under a different name! Thanks!

Hidden Lake and Handsome Boys!

Hello everybody! I'm sorry that I haven't been around much lately... Ellie and I have been pretty busy with training and stuff. It was a really nice day today so we were finally able to go back to the Boise Greenbelt again! This time, we went in the opposite direction, and we found some cool stuff! Come with me, and I will show you!

We found a little trail back behind some trees and decided to follow it. I was so excited that I forgot some of my training, and started pulling on the leash a bit! Oops! Here's a little video to show you part of the trail. It's kind of a boring video, actually... but it gives you an idea of where we went.

Right after we stopped taking this video, we went around a corner... and found a lake! We had no idea that it was there! It is a lot bigger than it looks in this picture and video.

After that, we sat on the side of the trail for a bit, trying to decide where to go next.

Then, something caught my attention...

Well, hello handsome!

I found out that his name is Roscoe, and he's the same age as me! He's also quite the gentleman... he even gave me a kiss!

After we said our goodbyes, we went back down to the lake and found some ducks...

... and some strange creatures that Ellie tells me are called geese. They make really funny noises!

Further down the trail, we saw the river again. Check out the power of the water! Ellie wouldn't let me get a closer look, even though I promised that I would be careful. Scaredy cat!

On the way back, we ran into another handsome boy! This is Smokey, a 9 year old wolf-hybrid. Ellie tells me he's 75% wolf, 25% malamute. I'm not really sure what that means, but I know that he's 100% HANDSOME!

After we got back to the car, I decided to take a minute and enjoy the new spring grass in the best way I know how!

I had so much fun today! I can't wait to go back! I even got tons better at sitting politely while other dogs are passing! It's really difficult for me to sit quietly when they pass, because I either want to say hello, or I want to warn Ellie that someone is coming! Ellie says I get better and better every time I go. She uses something called "classical conditioning" to help me associate passing dogs with good things, like treats or praise! She has me sit when she sees a dog coming, and holds a treat in front of my nose. She makes sure that I'm facing the other dog, so I can see the dog and the treat at the same time. As long as I have a calm response when the dog passes, she gives me the treat. I love it! All I have to do is sit quietly to get food!

I can't decide who was more handsome... Roscoe or Smokey? I like them both!

Spring Fever!

Hello! Treasure here! I am so happy today. I think Spring has finally arrived! It was such nice weather today, that I took Ellie for a walk at the Boise Greenbelt for the first time. We're new to this area, and we moved here in the middle of winter, so we haven't had a chance to check it out until today! We were having so much fun, that we spent 2 and a half hours walking!

The water level at the river was really high! Ellie tells me that the yucky rain we've been having lately helped it to get so high.

I spent the first half of the walk checking out all of the new smells!

I finally decided to pose for the picture-machine, because Ellie kept insisting!

We also found evidence that Spring is really here!

Whew! After that long walk, I am really tired! Ellie says that we both need to get back into shape after that long winter! Goodbye for now!

Cool Dog and Booooring...

Hello! This is Treasure speaking! I have a little mini-adventure to tell you about!

Yesterday, I went with Ellie to team teach a dog training class with her mentor, Dyan. While we were waiting for the students to show up, Ellie and I were practicing some tricks... when we started to attract a crowd! I had soooo much fun showing off. We heard comments like, "Wow, I thought Dachshunds were impossible to train!" and "That's a cool dog!" Cool dog, huh? I thought I was a "Hot" Dog! With a new title like that, I thought it would be in my best interest to practice my "cool" face.

"What do you think? Am I getting it right?"

Today wasn't so fun though. It was cold outside, and I absolutely HATE the cold. Ellie tried to keep me occupied with a stuffed chew toy, and it was fun for a while...

...but I moved onto another favorite hobby of mine.

"Blanket Burrowing!"

The one good thing about today? I got to wear my favorite coat!

Well, that's all I have for today! I hope I didn't put you all to sleep with the boringness... speaking of sleep...

"ZzZzzzZzzzz....."

Hello! This is Ellie typing. I just added Disqus to Treasure's blog to hopefully make it easier to reply to comments! I'm looking for feedback from anybody who visits to find out if you like it! Are you able to log in with Google or Facebook? If I reply to one of your comments, does it notify you via email? Thanks!

Here is my entry for Tucker's Dogya Contest! I call this the "Inverted Right Angle." What do you think? It really helps if you have a looooong body like mine!

First Post!

Hi, I'm Treasure! I am a four year old dachshund with a very important job - Dog Training Assistant! Sounds cool, huh? This is a very important job, because my owner tries out different training techniques (all positive!) on me, and I give my honest opinion on if they work or not. Also, I help show our students, and their owners, what the behavior is supposed to look like! My owner, Ellie, is currently in school to be a dog trainer, so we are both still learning, but we are having so much fun doing it! I am so proud of my job, and I will post about it in this blog.

In the meantime, here are some pictures of me so you can get to know me better!

Baby pictures!

In this one, you can actually see a fly sitting on top of my head. I didn't even know he was there!

Enjoying a bone!

Funny face!

Still enjoying the bone...

Grown up pictures!

This is how thin I used to be before my owner started feeding me a raw diet! She tried to feed me several different brands of premium dog food with no change! Within a month after starting raw, my weight was excellent!

Posing with my new raincoat!

Enjoying the sunshine!

Profile pic!

These are all older pictures, and Ellie tells me that I need to pose for some new pictures soon. I will post them as soon as I can! Goodbye for now!
